Grande Prairie unemployment rate for January

January's unemployment rate for the Grande Prairie region is 7.1 per cent.
The rate has been increasing since November when we were at 5.4 per cent.
Our region stretches from Jasper to Peace River.
Alberta's rate increased to 8.8 per cent while the national rate fell to 6.8 per cent from 6.9 per cent in December.
According to Statistics Canada, the labour market unexpectedly added 48,300 jobs in January thanks to surges in part-time and private-sector work.
