Wanted Whitecourt man found hiding in a headboard in Peace River

Feb 14, 2017

A man suspected of trying to set a Whitecourt house on fire, with some relatives still inside, has been arrested in Peace River.
Police say the man was found hiding in a headboard in a bedroom. A hand-made .22 pistol was also recovered.
Police in Whitecourt say they got a call just before 1:00 a.m. Monday from a man who said that he had been locked in a basement and could not get the attention of his wife or grand kids, even though he knew they were in the house.
Police say the man's grandson had scattered around cardboard and firewood and tried to light a fire before stealing his grandmother's vehicle and leaving.
Nineteen year old Jayden Allen Lochhead is facing several new charges.

He was also wanted on outstanding warrants. He has court appearances in Peace River, Whitecourt and Rocky Mountain House later this month.
