County Kings open up playoff series in Dawson Creek tonight
Feb 16, 2017
The Fort St. John Huskies and Sexsmith Vipers got the North West Junior Hockey League playoffs rolling Wednesday night, and tonight the County Kings and Dawson Creek Jr. Canucks will begin their series.
"They're a team that gets in hard on the forecheck and likes to finish their checks, and they're also a team that's pretty good on the power play," said Kyle Chapple, Head Coach and General Manager of the County Kings. "Discipline's going to be huge for us, and just sticking to our system."
Dawson Creek won the season series 4-2 but the Kings won the final meeting on Saturday by a score of 7-6 in overtime.
"They're a team that we've had close games with all season. I think the majority of the games have been (decided) by one goal. It was nice to beat them on Saturday in the last game of the year, although standings wise, it didn't mean anything," said Chapple.
Games one and two go in Dawson Creek at Memorial Arena. The series will shift to the Crosslink County Sportsplex next Thursday for games three and four.
The first round of the NWJHL playoffs are a best-of-five format.
