It's Heart & Stroke Day in Grande Prairie

Feb 16, 2017

Today marks Heart & Stroke Day in Grande Prairie.

Margaret Bell, Area Manager, says they will be out and about in the community, spreading the word.

"We're going to kick-off the day with breakfast at Subway at the South 40 location. Mayor Bill Given will be out to make the official proclamation that February 16th is Heart & Stroke Day in the City of Grande Prairie."

The breakfast goes from 8:00 - 9:00 a.m.

Bell is also encouraging local businesses and individuals to join them in their "paint the town red" campaign by raising funds in the fight against heart disease.

"Go ahead and do a little bit of fundraising, have fun with it, challenge your co-workers, go for a walk, eat a healthy lunch. Just have a fun day but recognize that heart health is a huge issue in our country, and we need to take our heart health seriously," she said.

February is Heart Month.
